For my modern I wanted to make certain powerful sentences that don’t often get used, be used in my design because of their deepness. I also wanted to mess the sequence of the solioquay.
I chose “The slings of arrows of outrageous fortune” as a big heading because it is one of the emotional sentences that carries a lot of weight in the soliloquy. Along with “The heart ache and the thousand natural shocks”. The first two sentences are describing his position (the princes) as being unfortunate and asking why am I here and the second sentences assuming what it would be like to die. I also put “to die to sleep” in a medium size font and put it next to the other two sentences. I wanted to highlight these sentences altogether because they are powerful and convey a more emotional take on the soliloquy. The obvious “to be or not to be” to be is in small font as I didn’t want to draw attention to it.
The emotion that I am trying to create graphically is the emotional of his suicidal thoughts rather than the sentences that indicate him wrestling with his sane mind, I wanted to show his insane mind. I have also highlighted suffer in another sentence as well to communicate this.
I highlighted in white “For who would bear the whips and scorns of time, th’ oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s contumely” because of the content. It is stating who would want to live like this and be tormented by time.
In the body of text just below the main heading I have pulled one of the sentences out of the paragraph because I feel it sums up the other sentences and draws to an conclusion. “Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,” this is the sentence towards the end of the soliloquy that states which way his mind is going to go and I think for that reason it is a very important sentence.
I used the typeface Abadi MT Condensed Extra Bold because I think it worked the best for the headings and gave a clear and concise reading. I also felt that it was quite stern and authorative typeface. I used modern 20 for the body of type because it is easier to read in paragraph.
